Digitized Recording
Digitized Recording is an option available with the ODYSSEY program. Digitized recording provides the ability to record a call, or more appropriately, a portion of a call. That recording is saved to the supervisor computer's hard drive, or any other computer on the network, as a digital file.
As a rule of thumb, digitized recording requires 12 kilobytes of drive space for each second of recording. This equates to 1½ minutes of recording for each megabyte of drive space or 20 to 25 hours of recording per gigabyte. As you can see, drive space will disappear quickly. You must, obviously, make arrangements for off-loading the accumulated data to free up drive space. A tape drive, a zip drive or a recordable CD-ROM drive can be used to archive these digital files.
"Digitized Recording" Tab
The Digitized Recording tab is actually quite user friendly. There are only five options to consider in setting up the service:
| Enable Digitized Recording: By checking this box you enable digitized recording. If you choose not to use digitized recording, you simply leave the box unchecked. |
 |
| Starting Recording with a Beep: Choose this option by checking the box. This will create the PC speaker to beep when recording is both started and stopped.
| |
| Record using Wave format: Choose this option if you wish to record in Wave format. If the box is left unchecked then the recording will be saved in a Vox format. Wave is the windows standard, if you choose this option, you will be able to play and edit the recordings in other windows audio programs (such as Windows Media Player).
| |
| Record with Higher Quality: Choose this option if you wish to have the recording is a higher quality. An example of using this feature would be if you wanted to record a telemarketer for training purposes or for playing for potential clients to see what the system can do for them.

NOTE: Using this feature will take up significantly more disk space. Your hard drive will fill up much faster while using this option.
